Dr. Lawson Batten

Dr. Lawson Batten was born and raised in Smithfield, North Carolina, where his roots in Johnston County run deep. A proud graduate of North Johnston High School, Dr. Batten was active in sports, playing basketball, baseball, and soccer. His interest in dentistry began early, inspired by family connections and positive experiences at his childhood dental office. His great-uncle served as his dentist while his grandmother worked at the front desk in his childhood dental office in Selma, NC. Those warm, family-oriented visits helped shape his vision for Batten Family Dental…a place where patients feel comfortable, cared for, and part of the family.

After high school, Dr. Batten attended North Carolina State University, earning his bachelor’s degree in Human Biology with a minor in Psychology. He then went on to earn his Dental degree from East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine. Committed to serving the community that shaped him, Dr. Batten chose to stay and practice in eastern North Carolina.

Dr. Batten’s philosophy is simple: treat every patient the way he would want to be treated. He takes the time to get to know his patients personally, ensuring that each individual receives compassionate, personalized care. Dedicated to continual growth, Dr. Batten pursues advanced training in implants, root canals, and cosmetic dentistry to offer the highest quality care and help his patients achieve healthy, confident smiles.

He is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the North Carolina Dental Society. Outside the office, Dr. Batten is an avid sports fan—especially when it comes to soccer, football, and anything NC State. He also enjoys traveling, reading, and hiking in his free time.
